Laura Tansey Wetzel

Laura Tansey Wetzel is a retired healthcare executive and active community leader based in Cooperstown, New York. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Munson Art Institute, where she chairs the Development Committee and contributes to the Art Advisory Council, Human Resources Committee, and Capital Campaign Committee. She is also President of the Guild of Glimmerglass, helping to lead fundraising efforts in support of the Glimmerglass Festival, and serves on the board of the League of Women Voters of the Cooperstown Area.

Wetzel has long been engaged with arts and cultural organizations. She is a docent at Fenimore Art Museum and Munson Art Institute and previously served as Vice President of the Catskill Symphony Orchestra Board. She also participates in the Patient and Family Advisory Council at Bassett Medical Center, reflecting her continued commitment to community service and civic engagement.

Before retiring in 2017, Wetzel held senior healthcare leadership positions for more than a decade, including Director of Quality Management and Regulatory Compliance at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania. In that role, she oversaw quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance for a large acute-care hospital.

A registered nurse, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in healthcare leadership from National Louis University and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
