Martha Membrino
Martha Membrino is a writer, editor, and active nonprofit volunteer based in Cooperstown, New York, with a long career in communications, publications, and community service.
She currently serves as trustee and treasurer of the Village Library of Cooperstown and as a member of the board of directors of Friends of the Village Library, where she chairs the Sunday Speaker Committee and edits the organization’s annual newsletter and appeal. She also serves as a communications advisor and contributor to the League of Women Voters of Cooperstown and continues her professional work as a freelance editor.
From 2014 to 2025, Membrino served as the editor of Heritage magazine and exhibition catalogues for Fenimore Art Museum and Fenimore Farm.
Earlier in her career in Washington, D.C., Membrino served on the advancement team as publications director at Sidwell Friends School and as communications director at the National Cathedral School, overseeing institutional and alumni publications. She also served as executive director of the Woman’s National Democratic Club and deputy director of Physicians for Social Responsibility, managing staff, budgets, and communications programs.
Membrino began her professional life as a speech and language pathologist, working in university-affiliated clinics and teaching in clinical training programs. She holds a master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Ohio University and has completed additional professional training in nonprofit administration and publications management.
Through her work in the arts, publications, and community organizations, she has remained committed to strengthening cultural and civic life in Cooperstown.
