Matteo Longhi

Violin

Matteo Longhi is the high school orchestra director at West Genesee High School. He was previously the 7-12 orchestra director at Chittenango Middle School and High School for nine years. He graduated with a B.M. in Violin Performance from Ithaca College and Masters degrees in Music Education and Violin Performance from Syracuse University where he was a graduate assistant.

Matteo has been on the faculty of Ithaca College's Summer Music Academy as well as Le Moyne's Summer Arts Institute as an instructor of Viola and Violin. He has conducted Jr. High All County Festivals in Broome and Onondaga Counties. He has worked as a guest clinician and conductor for the Syracuse Youth String Orchestra and Syracuse Youth Orchestra, running sectionals and rehearsals, and has adjudicated solo and All County festivals in Onondaga and Monroe Counties.

Matteo is an active performer of both orchestral and chamber music, and has played with various local orchestras and organizations such as Fenimore Chamber Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Syracuse Orchestra, Tri-Cities Opera, Syracuse Stage and the Society for New Music. He has been a Chamber Music Immersion Fellow at the Weekend of Chamber Music festival in Jeffersonville, NY and has participated in the Charles Castleman Quartet Program in Boulder, CO.
