David Irvin

David Irvin was born, raised and studied double bass in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He and his wife Janet now live in the village of Cooperstown, New York.

After 34 years of teaching string instrumental music at Delaware Academy in Delhi, New York, Dave currently teaches double bass at the State University of New York Binghamton.

Dave is currently Principal Bass with the Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra, Fenimore Chamber Orchestra, Catskill Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Principal Bass with the Binghamton Philharmonic.

Dave's bass was built by Francis Shetron, a Norwich, New York native, in 1966 in Syracuse, New York using wood from Upstate Central New York.
